Hot, Buttered Soul... #11

An inaugural soul mix for a day of inauguration. Whenever I think Obama, I think of The Pointer Sisters singing "Yes we can, can!" And so we can, can... kick it up a notch and dedicate this mix to three fine words, Change Has Come.

So in the name of Obama, Barack that ass up and drop it like it's hot. Joining us to help the President to strut his stuff, the following magicians have come together:

Jack Jones | Ronnie Laws & The L.G. Experience | De La Soul | The Pharcyde | Dawn Robinson | Eddie Grant | Stevie Wonder | Ike & Tina Turner | The Commodores | The White Stripes & Notorious B.I.G. | Vanity 6 | Raphael Saadiq

The titles are in the flow somewhere and if you listen along then you can play along - the name of the game is Name That Tune! ;)

Then we take it higher...

I'll never fall in love again is what
I now say to friends & strangers.

The pain hurts more than you know
and she said, "Then you don't know
the meaning of a woman, best learn."

So I hit the electric avenue.
Captain Master Blaster and I
were jammin with sexy Ida.

She was made up like a brickhouse,
smile so thick she could hypnotize
the army. She wasn't a nasty girl,
head to toe sweet girl she was.

I'm doing what I can with what I got.
Sitting in silence, resisting what is.

I could never be separate from you.

That's another edition of Hot, Buttered Soul for the books. This was my 11th show on CFCR 90.5fm. I've been doing a show every other week and I'm pleased to hear that I will be doing it every Friday as soon as some guy sells his car and moves ;) So in the next week or so I will be dropping rhythms on a weekly basis taking the Friday shift to present to you a gift... a gift of my some of my soul within the soul that I share with you.

I am Khayyam and that was Hot, Buttered Soul.

Finally, I can pick my nose...

You can pick your nose. And you can pick your friends. You can't pick your friend's nose.

Virgin for over 25 years...

This weeked was an impromptu flash back to big hair, perms, righteous tunes and my ever longing for a Trans Am like Smokey and The Bandit.

I did however come across a couple of fantastic ads for Virgin airlines that had a little bit of that 80's charm to lend to the end of a fantastic #80sphotowkd ;)

010_Hot, Buttered Soul...

This is the first show of the year and wanted to stretch the canvas and paint some "happy little trees". I've picked a few good hues using a splendidly discrete palette, my fan brushes are at my side and Bob Ross my creative co-pilot.

Joining us to paint our wonderful landscape are the kids who've got the skills to pay the bills. There's a few of them from today, way back in the day and some other cats that just got something to say... either way, today was a good day ;)

Bell Biv Devoe | New Edition | Leela James | Floetry | Lyrics Born | John Legend | Minnie Ripperton | Dwele | Ohio Players | Spandau Ballet | J-Boogie | Ziggy Marley | SWV

The titles are in the flow somewhere and if you listen along then you can play along - the name of the game is Name That Tune! ;)

Take It Back...

Thought it was me, I really did.
A little bit of love is all it takes.
Sharing in the music and rhythm.

Closer we become only to grow.
Differences are what make us the same.

No other love is like that
which is inside my love.
I always say open your eyes,
keep on forgetting to open mine.

This has been a love rollercoaster,
and you don't need this pressure.

No matter what, I have to say this:
I'm always down to make some music.
It's only human nature.

Hope you enjoy the multiple layers that are applied to this canvas to lend to the texture and depth. That's all I got for now. That was Hot, Buttered Soul and @iamkhayyam and this is a wicked speedpainting of Bob Ross with some questionable techno, yet well worth the view.
